Spotlit Unbridged

You announce three seconds and turn around,
Think twice quickly about scratching your arm,
Can’t do it and hold this stance.

I am transparent with too much heat,
Low at the table,
Indisposed.

It’s not like Christendom
Or baking with stiff fingers,
But parting as friends, the request untouched.
Thank you for talking about it.
Thank you for dogs with five legs.

I’d rather give headaches than earn a beating-
Propositions you could do without carved
In the ratio of silence to nervous twitch.

The press of breath into vacant space
Between protective and decorative layers of dress
Makes you lose territory.
Let the divergent explanations alarm you,
My temperature, born in black eggs.

Waking for hours in the darkness,
You see shapes stem out toward definition,
Reaching death half-formed, ecstatic.
